Mountain bike tires

Continental Caninus (Dog Tooth) racing tires 26 x 2.00 inch  (54-559mm).  This is a deep and close-set tread block pattern for deep penetration in dry conditions ranging from moderately loose to hardpack.  The lugs extend well around the sides of the tire.  They are light weight at only 665g. 

 

Continental is a 130 year old German company and makes their tire casings exclusively from the lighter weight, stronger, and more elastic natural gum rubber (from rubber trees not petroleum). Continental Competition Pro 1 racing tires 26 x 2.125 inch  (57-559mm).  This is a very deep and aggressive open tread pattern for the nastiest  mud, loose stuff and sand. The Competition Pro 2 is not quite so deep.  They are very light weight at only 660g.

Continental Competition Pro 2 racing tires 26 x 2.125 inch  (57-559mm).  This is a moderately deep and open tread pattern for mud, loose stuff and sand. The lugs are not as deep as those on the Competition Pro 1 and have easier rolling on firmer ground.    They are very light weight at only 650g.

Continental Leader Pro tires 26 x 2.00 inch  (54-559mm).  This is an excellent cross-country tire with very good handling and traction  for all kinds of conditions.  This tread pattern has not-too-high center lugs for speed on hardpack and good side dams for control in the loose stuff and sand.  It has very good puncture resistance, and is very light weight at only 640g.  The white or tan bloom on the tires is the mold release wax.

Continental Goliath tires are one of the most well rounded all-terrain tires in production.  Its tread pattern includes a tread crown for smooth, low rolling resistance riding on pavement and blocks at either side for uneven terrain.  Built for excellent puncture resistance and long wear, Goliath my be the most comfortable tire choice.

Continental Top Touring 2000 tires 26 x 1.75 inch  (47-559mm).  This tire is designed to give a smooth-rolling grip on virtually any road surface.  The tough but light weight Polyamide casing has many threads per inch and an extra pair of penetration-proof belts.  They are very light weight at only 640g.

Continental Avenue, Town and Country.  These tires  are the last of their model and  are being offered at a big discount.  The Avenue on the left is a 26 x 1.75 inch  (47-559mm) semi-slick with low rolling resistance, high traction, and long wear.  The Town and Country on the right is a 26 x 2.1 in (54-559) center rib tire that provides excellent grip if the street surfaces have sand or gravel.
